As a Garda Lake photographer, I’m always inspired by the beauty and variety this region offers. One of my favorite places to shoot couple sessions is Riva del Garda—a small town that combines mountain views, lakeside charm, and Mediterranean nature all in one.

Sometimes, the best stories begin with a change of plans.
This couple originally planned their honeymoon photoshoot in the Dolomites, but heavy rain swept through the mountains on the day we had scheduled. Instead of canceling, we decided to reschedule for the following day—just in time for their next stop: Riva del Garda. And honestly, it couldn’t have worked out better. What we found there was a perfect mix of lake views, mountain backdrops, and Italian charm that made their session truly unforgettable.

I had the pleasure of capturing a sweet English couple on their honeymoon here, and their couple photos at Garda Lake turned into a truly special story. We began the session with a short walk—about 10 to 15 minutes from the parking area—toward an olive grove that overlooks the lake. Along the way, we paused for photos with scenic views of the water and the surrounding mountains.

The olive grove offered a calm and natural setting, ideal for creating timeless, intimate portraits. The light filtered through the trees, and the couple could simply enjoy being together while I captured their connection in an organic, unobtrusive way.

After the grove, we made our way down to the lakefront, stopping in a park full of blooming oleanders and vibrant greenery. With the soft lake breeze, colorful flowers, and the charming buildings of Riva del Garda in the background, the atmosphere was joyful and romantic. This part of the session felt more playful and spontaneous, a perfect balance to the earlier calm.

What makes Riva del Garda such a wonderful location for a couple photoshoot at Garda Lake is how much diversity it offers in such a compact area. You don’t need to drive or plan a big itinerary—just a simple walk brings you from olive trees and panoramic views to lakeside gardens and classic Italian streets.
